Vegan Sugar Cookies Recipe

Mmm... vegan sugar cookies with a cinnamon agave glaze... sweet but not too sweet. You want to limit how much refined sugar you eat, just because you aren't eating animal foods does NOT mean you are eating healthy.

These cookies taste just as good as those unhealthy egg and milk ones. Because there's no egg, they taste soft and cakey and melt in your mouth! Perfect amount of sweetness and feels nice on your tummy. They only takes 10 minutes to cook!

Makes 6 cookies

Items needed for preparation:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cup
  • Cookie Sheet


  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 1/3 cup of applesauce
  • Almond, soy, hemp, or rice milk
  • 1 tbsp of vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 over ripe banana
  • Agave (for icing)
  • Cinnamon (for icing)
  • 1 tbsp of oil (preferably virgin {coconut oil})


Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375.

Step 2: In a bowl mix together the sugar, vanilla, baking powder, banana and applesauce.

Step 3: Gradually mix in the flour. If the mixture is a bit dry add little bits of your favorite vegan milk, until it forms into a dough.

Step 4: Now you can refrigerate the dough if you have the patience. This helps your dough rise more, and makes your cookies fluffy. I do recommend refrigerating for an hour, but it's not necessary. If you're craving those sugar cookies asap then they'll still be yummy.

Step 5: Grease your cookie sheet, roll spoonful sized balls. (Makes 12 cookies) Plop em in the oven for 10 min, or until golden brown.

Step 6: Let them cool for 5 min. Spread the agave on the top of them (try not to go too crazy on the agave, they are sugar cookies ). Add sprinkles of cinnamon to top it off, and voila! Delicious, relatively healthy, vegan sugar cookies!

Like almost everything, these sugar cookies go great with some sliced bananas on top!
